AFFILIATE PROGRAM - A web-based
marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each
visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts.
AUTO RESPONDER - A computer program that automatically answers
email sent to it. Auto responders are often used as e-mail marketing tools, to
immediately provide information to their prospective customers and then
follow-up with them at preset time intervals.
BUSINESS SEEKERS -
These are people who are looking to start their own business. These people are
generally open to both home and non-home based business opportunities on either
a full or part time basis. These are also people whom have some money to invest
in a business and seek self-employment.
BUSINESS LISTS - A list
or file containing the name an address of a particular type of business or
organization.
CATALOG BUYERS - These are people who regularly
shop and buy from direct mail catalogs.
CONFIRMED OPT IN - A new
subscriber asks to be subscribed to the mailing list, but unlike unconfirmed
opt-in, a confirmation e-mail is sent to verify it was really them.
CONSUMER LIST - This list allows you to use demographic and
psychographic filters to reach your best prospects, and is addressed to a
specific individual within the household.
DATA - Items or lists
of information.
DOUBLE OPT - A term used to describe people who
have requested twice to receive additional information about a product,
service, opportunity, etc.
DOUBLE OPT IN - A term coined by
marketers in the late 90s to differentiate it from what they call single
opt-in, where a new subscriber to an e-mail list gets a confirmation e-mail
telling them they will begin to receive e-mails if they take no action. This is
compared to double opt-in where the new subscriber must respond to the
confirmation e-mail to be added to the list. They now have opted in or
requested information twice.
DOWNLINE - Refers to Multi-Level
Marketing (MLM) and describes people who work beneath you, or 'down the line'.
A person's job would be to recruit others to sell their product, and in return,
receive a percentage of their sales. The next person's job then is to recruit
people even more so below them, and receive a percentage of their sales. This
technique continues down and down.
ELECTRONIC MAIL - Often
abbreviated to e-mail, email, or simply mail, is a store-and forward method of
writing, sending, receiving and saving messages over electronic communication
systems.
EMAIL LEAD - The email address of a person or entity
potentially interested in purchasing a product or service, and represents the
first stage of a sales process.
EXTRA INCOME SEEKERS - These are
people who are primarily looking to generate additional income. These people
usually are already employed but wish to subsidize their existing income.
GAMBLERS - These are people who regularly participate in casino
gambling. They are generally real risk takers.
GET RICH QUICK
BUYERS - These are generally impulsive people who believe they can get rich
in a short period of time.
LEAD - The identity of a person or
entity potentially interested in purchasing a product or service, and
represents the first stage of a sales process.
LEAD GENERATION -
(Commonly abbreviated as lead-gen) A marketing term that refers to the creation
or generation of prospective consumer interest or inquiry into a businesses
products or services.
MAILING LIST - A collection of names and
addresses used by an individual or an organization to send material to multiple
recipients. The term is often extended to include the people who subscribed to
such a list, so the group of subscribers is referred to as "the mailing list",
or simply "the list".
MAIL ORDER BUYERS - These are people who
buy regularly through direct mail.
MAIL ORDER ENTHUSIAST - These
are people who have responded to several Mail Order or MLM programs.
MLM - An abbreviation for Multi-Level Marketing. MLM is also
often referred to as Network Marketing. MLM is a business distribution model
that allows a parent multi-level marketing company to market their products
directly to consumers by means of relationship referral and direct selling.
MULTI-LEVEL MARKETERS (MLM) - These are people who regularly
participate in Multi-Level-Marketing. These could also be people who have
recently responded to an advertisement requesting to receive more information
on MLM programs.
NETWORK MARKETING - A business distribution
model that allows a parent Multi-Level Marketing Company to market their
products directly to consumers by means of relationship referral and direct
selling. Network Marketing is also known as MLM Marketing.
OCCUPANT
LIST - This List is addressed to the 'Current Resident' only and is
appropriate when you want to reach or saturate every household within a
geographic area, without the use of demographic filters.
OPPORTUNITY
SEEKERS - These are general opportunity seekers that have all responded to
ads in National Publications. These prospects are all looking to receive
additional information on various income earning opportunities.
OPT
IN - A term used when someone is given the option to receive "bulk" e-mail,
that is, e-mail that is sent to many people at the same time. Obtaining
permission before sending e-mail is critical because without it, the e-mail is
unsolicited bulk email, better known as spam.
OPT OUT - Instead
of giving people the option to be put in the list, they are automatically put
in and have the option to be taken out.
PAY PAL - An e-commerce
business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet.
Pay Pal performs payment processing for online vendors, auction sites, and
other corporate users, for which it charges a fee.
PRIVACY
POLICY - A declaration made by an organization regarding its use of
personal information that you give it.
RECURRING BILLING -
Monthly and yearly subscriptions are referred to as recurring plans with
recurring billing. Auto recurring billing enables businesses to automatically
bill customers for balance due without sending invoices or obtaining payment

SPAM - Unsolicited bulk e-mail also known
as "bulk e-mail" or "junk e-mail," that involves nearly identical messages
being sent to numerous recipients by e-mail. These parties have not opted in or
elected to receive such mail.
SWEEPSTAKES PLAYERS - These are
people who regularly respond to and participate in sweepstakes.
VERIFIED PHONE LEAD - A lead in which the phone number has been
verified to be a working number as opposed to a non-working phone number.
WORK AT HOME PROSPECTS - These are people who are primarily
looking to work from home on either a full or part time basis. These people are
